Stephan "Stevie" Ray Vaughan was a blues-rock guitarist born in Dallas, Texas in the year 1954, October 3. He is one of the most influential electric-blues guitarists of all time. The main characteristic of the songs of Stevie is the heavy strings of the guitar accompanied by his warm blue rock tones. In the year 2003, Rolling stone ranked him 7 among the world's famous 100 guitarist of all time. The Classic Rock Magazine claimed him the third position holder among the 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes of all time in the year 2007.
Vaughan also won three awards in the following categories- "Best New Talent", "Best Blues Album" and "Best Electric Blues Guitarist" in the Guitar Player's reader poll. The most interesting fact is that since then Vaughan won "The Best Electric Blues Guitarist" award every year until 1991.
Vaughan is a versatile character and he featured in the 1983 album "Lets Dance". His next work was the album "Couldn't Stand The Weather" in the year 1984. While performing on the "Rockpalast", "MuchMusic" and "Solid Gold", he made innumerable Television appearances. With the band Double Trouble he played Carneigie hall in 1984. In the same year Vaughan won two of the W.C Handy National Blues Awards: for "Entertainer of the Year" and "Blues Instrumentalist of the Year" Awards. He also tried his hands on the production and produced the album "Strike Like Lightenning" for Lonnie Mack.
In the year 1985, he was nominated for the Grammy awards for "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" for the song "Say What!"
However, he died of a sudden heart failure in the year 1990. But, he was inducted into the hall of fame post his death in the year 2000. The last guitar that Vaughan played is on display in the Hard Rock Cafe.
