Jimi Hendrix The Legend

Jimi Hendrix, one of the greatest influential guitarists of all time, was born in America on November 27, 1942. He was a versatile personality who was a songwriter, singer and nevertheless a guitarist, all packed into one. His rise to fame in the world of rock music initialized in Europe and after his 1967 performance in the USA at The Monterey Pop Festival, the next big thing that followed is that he got the opportunity to headline the 1969 Woodstock Festival.


The influence of the blues artists like the B.B. King, Muddy waters, Elmore James can be recognized in the works of Jimi Hendrix. However, according to Carlos Santana, Jimi's music was influenced by his native land America's heritage and culture.


In the year 1965, Jimi formed his first band named "Jimi James and the Blue Flames" with other artists like the Isley Brothers and Curtis Knight and were joined by various other artists. In the year 1966, he formed another band, "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" with few others like guitarist-turned-bassist Noel Redding, and Mitch Mitchell. With his performances at the various parts of the continent Europe, he acquired himself a name in the rock music world. Hendrix's first album was "Hey Joe' and his debut songwriting effort was for the song "Stone Free". Purple Haze" featured "Hendrix Chord" and "The Wind Cries Mary" that brought him immense success. These songs later proved to be a huge hit among various distant parts of the world including Europe, Australia to Japan. He was also practicing live performances and hit the stage with B.B King hit "Rock Me Baby" and a version of Howling Wolf's song "killing Floor". The first Hendrix experience album is "Are You Experienced", released in the United Kingdom in the year 1967. However, the career of Jimi Hendrix came to a standstill with his death in the year 1970.
