Eric Patrick Clapton aka Eric Clapton aka Slowhand was born to be a great guitarist of all times in the year 1945, March 30. He won the Grammy Award for his contributions to the world of music in the year 1998. He won the "Record of the Year" category, which featured numbers like "Change the World".
Clapton was equally flexible in all the genres of music including rock, reggae, and Delta blues to pop. This extraordinary talent is evident form the creations like "Change The World"(pop), "Me and Mr. Johnson"(Delta blues)and reggae song, "I Shot The Sheriff".
He rose to the upper berth of the fame through the "Derek and Dominos" featuring the song "Layla". In the year 1963, Clapton joined the rock and roll band influenced by the blues, "The Yardbirds". With the other leading guitarists, he played a unique style of his own that became famous in the British music circle. In April of 1965, Clapton joined the "John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers". Working with them at the nightclubs made him popular in the whole world. During this time, he brought out the influential album "Blues Breakers". However, he left the Bluesbreakers and formed what later turned out to be one of the supergroups, The "Cream". It is considered as the power trio with Eric as the guitarist, Jack Bruce on bass and Ginger Baker on the drums. His years at the Cream, developed him as a songwriter, singer and developed him as a guitarist.
However, the late 1960's saw the emergence of many of his rivalries. However, Clapton continued his strive for the recognition as the stalwart of guitar in the world of pop music and created soulful ("I Feel Free") to instrumental jams based on blues ("Spoonful"). He continues to delight the music lovers.
